Australia’s Talga joins Polestar 0 mission

Battery supplies and know-how firm Talga Group has joined the Polestar 0 mission, an initiative spearheaded by Swedish EV firm Polestar to develop a climate-neutral manufacturing automotive by 2030.

The goal is to get rid of all greenhouse gasoline (GHG) emissions all through the EV provide chain, manufacturing and end-of-life course of, to supply a really climate-neutral automotive with out offsetting.

Graphite, because the anode, is the most important quantity mineral element of a lithium-ion battery, however incumbent artificial graphite is power intensive and depending on oil and coal precursors.

Talga and Polestar intend working in partnership is to develop a pure graphite anode for the mission, with Talga already having Talnode-C with an ultra-low emission profile; 92% much less CO2-eq than artificial anodes as demonstrated in an unbiased life cycle evaluation.

“As a worldwide chief in inexperienced battery supplies, we assist our prospects of their aim to decarbonise the automotive business and share their dedication to sustainability,” says Talga managing director Mark Thompson.

Polestar 0 mission lead Hans Pehrson says manufacturing of the anode in battery modules is a vital matter for an EV.

The Polestar 0 mission launched in 2021 with the assumption that the automotive business wanted a full reset.

Whereas the swap to EVs eliminates tailpipe emissions, Polestar recognises the necessity to urgently tackle GHG emissions that stem from manufacturing.
